Hutt City Council has sent this info-graphic to the Ministry of Health for an explanation and asked for a briefing on the matter of fluoridation. The Ministry have been asked to provide material and also present at the fluoridation workshop that is planned for Hutt City Council.
Council’s request was initiated as a result of one of the submissions presented to the Hutt City Council in the 2015 Long Term Plan process. Included in the submission was an info-graphic that compared the pharmacy-grade fluoridated water from fluoride tablets to Wellington’s tap water which contains industrial grade fluoride often carrying co-contaminants such as arsenic and lead.
The following was included in an email to all submitters on the issue of fluoridation:
“During the hearing of submissions Council agreed to raise concerns outlined in one particular submission on fluoridation in water to the Ministry of Health. The attached info-graphic will be included in the letter which states that “pharmacy grade fluoridated water contains 1.0 parts per million pharmacy grade Sodium Fluoride and carries warnings as to the dosage, as per the Medicines Regulations 1984”.
According to the Infographic, Wellington’s fluoridated water contains 0.7-1.0 parts per million unapproved Hydrofluorosilicic Acid and provides no recommended dosage or warnings.”
Fluoride Free New Zealand is looking forward to the Ministry of Health’s attempt to explain the unexplainable.
