Petition to stop Lead-Like Damage Caused by Fluoridation

Fluoride Free New Zealand has launched a parliamentary petition calling for an end to water fluoridation. The aim of the petition is to make decision makers aware of the depth of feeling that exists in New Zealand against fluoridation. This has become very evident since 14 councils were directed last year to fluoridate their water supplies by a range of start dates.

This petition has been precipitated by a recent court case taken by Fluoride Free New Zealand and New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out With Science against Hastings District Council (HDC) for starting fluoridation. On losing the case, the judge awarded costs to be paid to both the HDC and the Attorney General, whom the judge invited into the case, as he deemed our groups to be “special interest groups” and not representing the public interest.

We are asking New Zealanders to sign the petition to show the powers that be that opposition to fluoridation is a mainstream issue that is of concern to many people. Opposition to water fluoridation is based on latest science, ethics and good old common sense.

The latest science shows that fluoridation is ineffective at reducing tooth decay by any significant amount in today’s society, and that levels of exposure in fluoridated communities causes Central Nervous System damage, including IQ loss comparable to Lead.
