Would you please advise with a simple yes or no – if you are elected, would you support pressuring the coalition Government to bring forward, and vote for, the Member’s Bill introduced by NZ First, which seeks to repeal the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2021 so that decision making for fluoridation can be returned to the hands of each local council?
Yes
Yes I would support it.
My position is it should not be mandatory. It is a personal decision for individuals and they can take tablets should they wish to do so.
I very much support your stance on fluoridation and believe people should have the option to opt out. I did try to get some momentum going early in my term when the high Court hearings were going on with no success. I will certainly try to apply pressure on Central Government but I fear that voices at local government level are very often ignored. Perhaps NZ First are more open to dialogue?
Our Fluoride Free Taupo group would love to see that Toxic Chemical removed altogether. Unfortunately bringing the decision back to local Councils may or may not work, for Eg if they held a Referendum we estimate 50% of our town might choose to keep it in the Water, as they have been sold a Marketing lie for 70 years. If we could get it bought back to Council, without a Referendum I think I’ve presented enough to them now that they should Vote it out of our so called Drinking water.

My yes/no is a no. However, I do not necessarily support the Central Government sending reform down the pipeline, I think the Coalition has a few bridges to cross before anyone else’s views will be taken on board, and so I think we could put our energy into other areas.
