Would you please advise with a simple yes or no – if you are elected, would you support pressuring the coalition Government to bring forward, and vote for, the Member’s Bill introduced by NZ First, which seeks to repeal the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2021 so that decision making for fluoridation can be returned to the hands of each local council?

I think it is important that we work through our local MPs and ask for direction as to how to influence their particular Party. Even our local labour MP. All of them should be asked. Even if it was let the community decide by way of referendum.

We did have that right and I used it when I was chairman of Waimairi District Council. WE Held the referendum and put out a newspaper with all the advantages on one side and all the opposite on the other. The community knew that whichever way they voted it would be implemented before the new council met. We held it at election time to save costs. Fluoride came out and there was no problem in fact the only person to call was a Doctor who was very please because he said people could self medicate.
