Would you please advise with a simple yes or no – if you are elected, would you support pressuring the coalition Government to bring forward, and vote for, the Member’s Bill introduced by NZ First, which seeks to repeal the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2021 so that decision making for fluoridation can be returned to the hands of each local council?

YES!!!!!  I’m totally against fluoride.

I would support FFNZ in every way possible. So a big yes.

I am against water fluoridation full stop.

Denise Messiter

My answer is YES.

YES. This is my personal view and would require a majority of Council to pass any such resolution.

Alexei McDermott

Yes. Fluoride has no place in our water

Scotty Bright

Yes.

Susanna Borgstede

I’m standing for the Coromandel/Coromandel Community Board in the upcoming local government election. I’m against the fluoridation of our drinking water.

YES…and if you care read my manifesto attached…quoting Michael Connett’s visit.

Caroline Marshall-Hobman

Yes, I would support pressuring the coalition govt, so that the fluoridation decision can be returned to the people.

I have been part of this movement off and on for years and thank you all for the work that you are doing.
I organised some fund raising to purchase some copies of your FluorideFree booklet.
Once the elections are done, I will be presenting some of the successful candidates with a copy each.
I bought $300 worth some months ago, via Kane.

Cole McDowell

No

Sorry but I’m all for retaining fluoride in water supplies it’s benefits far outweigh any possible harm.

Martin Rodley

No.

I appreciate that this is an issue about which people hold strong views.

As a local councillor, my responsibility is first and foremost to ensure that Council is delivering safe, reliable drinking water in line with the law. Since the passing of the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2021, decisions about whether to fluoridate water supplies are no longer made by councils. They are determined by the Director-General of Health, following the legislative direction of Central government.

Whether or not the law should be changed again is therefore a matter for Parliament. As a candidate for local government, it would not be appropriate for me to commit to lobbying for or against a specific political party’s Member’s Bill. My role, if elected, is to represent all of our community’s needs within the scope of Council’s responsibilities, while ensuring public health, safety, and affordability remain central.

I support open, transparent discussion about community health matters, and I respect that there are differing perspectives on fluoridation. But I do not believe it is constructive to make a simple “yes” or “no” pledge to a question that sits outside the direct decision-making powers of local
