Upper Hutt Fluoridation Information

What fluoride chemicals are used to fluoridate Upper Hutt’s water supply?

Orica supplies Hydrofluorosilicic Acid H2SiF6 to Council to fluoridate.

When did fluoridation begin in Upper Hutt and has there been any public consultation since beginning?

Fluoridation started in 1965.

Where to get non-fluoridated?

There are public taps outside the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt and at the Petone fountain in Buick St, that provide unfluoridated, unchlorinated water directly from the Hutt Valley aquifer. Hundreds of people get their water from there every week.
