As you may be aware, a US Federal Court issued a ruling in September that “fluoridation poses an unreasonable risk to human health”. (See Ruling here).
The US Environmental Protection Agency is now obligated by law to restrict or eliminate the risk. It appears that the only thing that can be done to meet this obligation is to stop fluoridation.
As a result, the Florida Surgeon General advised on Friday that communities should not be adding fluoride to drinking water.
“It is public health malpractice with the information that we have now to continue adding fluoride to water.”
“Access to dental care is a very important issue, but the answer to that issue is not systemic dosing of the population with a neurotoxic agent.”
Dr. Ladapo has both a medical degree and a PhD in health policy from Harvard and is a professor of medicine at the University of Florida, where his focus is on reducing health risks for low-income and disadvantaged populations.
Fluoridation is going the same way lead did in the 1980s. The USA stopped, but it took years more before New Zealand finally pulled the plug in 1996 being one of the last countries to do so. During that time countless more children were kept in harms way and had their brain development impeded.
We don’t have to make the same mistake again. The Director-General of Health is the sole decision maker for fluoridation for the whole country and could therefore issue a directive tomorrow to all councils to stop fluoridation immediately.
It is now her duty to do so.
As Dr Lapado has stated, not to do so is “public health malpractice”.

This is an important step forward in prioritizing public health and safety. The Florida Surgeon General’s recommendation to stop fluoridation reflects growing awareness of the potential risks associated with systemic fluoride exposure. With mounting evidence of its neurotoxic effects, it is imperative for policymakers across the country to follow suit and take immediate action to protect communities. In addition to halting fluoridation, public health efforts should focus on expanding access to affordable dental care, promoting education on oral hygiene, and encouraging the use of fluoride-free alternatives like topical treatments and dietary improvements. It is crucial that health authorities prioritize transparency, conduct further research, and actively engage with the public to ensure safer, science-based practices for improving dental health without compromising overall well-being.
This is a thought-provoking post on the growing concerns about water fluoridation and its potential health risks. The Florida Surgeon General’s recommendation to stop adding fluoride to drinking water is a significant step, especially with recent scientific findings. It’s crucial to keep reassessing public health practices based on new research to ensure the well-being of the population.
