John Pfahlert, CEO of the industry lobby group, formerly known as New Zealand Sewage and Industrial Wastes Association (NZSIWA).is urging the Government to make the addition of hazardous waste fluoridation chemicals to community drinking water, mandatory throughout New Zealand. Parliament is currently considering an Amendment to the Health Act to shift responsibility from local councils to the District Health Boards..
Most people don’t realise that fluoridation chemicals added to community drinking water in many municipal drinking supplies, are a waste product from the phosphate fertiliser industry. Fluoride produced as a result of phosphate fertiliser production is too toxic to go into the air so industry is required to put a cap on the smoke stacks and wash the fluoride out. They then have a hazardous waste problem as it is illegal for them to dump in rivers, lakes, land or ocean. However, if they sell it to unsuspecting councils, they can call it “Fluoridation” and we the people, drink that toxic waste for them. John Pfahlert obviously thinks this is an ideal solution for industry’s toxic waste problem.
This advert that aired on TV3 last year details this process. Proponents of fluoridation complained to the Advertising Standards Authority but their complaints were not upheld as this is the shocking truth of what councils are adding to their community water supplies and what Government is currently in the process of making mandatory through the back door by shifting responsibility to District Health Boards. There is be no allowance for public input or consideration into health or environmental effects, except to count the number of projected dental fillings in children in an area and compare that against the cost of very cheap (they are practically giving it away) fluoridation chemicals.
This Documentary provides a captivating expose of the toxic effect on the environment and this interview with the author of The Fluoride Deception and BBC award winning journalist, Christopher Bryson, who explains the sordid history of fluoridation and how fluoride pollution is what kick-started today’s environmental movement.
Fluoride Free New Zealand urges the New Zealand public to also give feedback to the Health Select Committee and voice their opposition to the proposed new legislation. Details can be found here.
